SHAMAYITA SPORTS ACADEMY

Shamayita Sports Academy was started in 2010 with boys from underprivileged sector of the society most of whom belong to Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe families.

The objective is to bring out the potential of sports which lies hidden among the rural underserved youths, belonging to the backward and to transform them into professional players. Most of the trainees of SSA are from families who are daily wage earners. Hence motivating the boys from such marginalized families to play football and help them to  dream to be professional football players is a challenge before the society.

TARGET COMMUNITY / OUTREACH:

SSA have created a good impact on the minds of the rural boys and youths. Extreme poverty, lack of nutrition, medium health and livelihood as a daily labour stand out as a stumble block in the lives of the trainees who are the future players. But their interest and dream of playing football at district/ state /national level is the driving force which provides them the energy to travel 5 km to 20 km. for regular practice. The trainees coming from about 40 Villages cover 5 blocks of Bankura district namely- Gangajalghati, Chhatna, Barjora, Mejia, Bankura-II.
