An unit for training the local women in hand embroidery and making designed dress wear, saree started in a very humble way in the year 2000 which ultimately gave birth to the boutique dress designing unit “Sambriti”.
At present besides the embroidery section tailoring training is also introduced for giving training to the rural young women who will get some opportunity of income in their own villages.
Various types of ladies wear, gents wear, home furnishings and home decors with hand embroidery are being produced by a group of young girls and women coming from the lower middle class section of the rural society.
Recently artificial ornaments, fancy bags made of indigenous materials are also being produced by the women. These type of skill help a rural woman for an extra income to lead a dignified self esteemed life.
Sambriti has able to create a platform among the women who like to wear unique dress with a sober fashion sense. Presently outlets are being opened at Durgapur, Kolkata, Dhanbad from where the training facility to the urban needy women will be given and at the same time clients will be able to purchase the products.
Workshops are regularly arranged by renowned designers for up gradation, value addition of different products which helps in skill enhancement of the women also. The unit is also engaged in promotion of different handicrafts product of Bankura district like Terracota, conch shell, stone carvings, bamboo craft etc. All these products are collected from different artisan clusters and are being marketed through exhibitions at different places.
