Sports Meet-2021

Sports Rural children and youths are always thrilled to take part in sports events. Majority of them run barefooted , without any formal sports wear, and Shamayita Sports Academy aims to explore the potentials of these uncared children in games and sports . Like previous years the sports meet was held on 23rd January, 2021. Participants were more than 350- both boys and girls, coming from surrounding 20 villages within a radius of 15 km. Nine months of lockdown and absence from formal schools, made the students even more enthusiastic about their participation in sports. Every year a group of participants who have good performance in this sports meet are screened and sent to the district sports meet. Just one month ago, i.e. on 23rd December, 2020 another sports meet was organized for the students of Shamayita Marang Buru schools. 140 students participated in the sports meet.

Participation in West Bengal trial for World Cup batch 2034

The academy motivates the student players of Shamayita Sports Academy to build a career in football. It establishes liaison with different football academy and clubs, with the objective of providing scope to the student players of SSA to get selected in national teams and leagues. Representatives of Minerva Academy from Punjab was present in Shamayita Krirangan- the football ground of SSA on 26th February, 2021 for trial of players under 10 years, 9 years, 8 years, 7 years, 6 years for world cup batch 2034. One hundred and twenty kids in the above age group from Bankura and surrounding district of Paschim Burdwan gathered for the trial, out of which five were selected in the first round. Final selection would be held in the state capital and the selected ones will get full sponsorship for coaching under Minerva Academy .

Veterans’ Football Tournament

Shamayita Sports Academy establishes village level coaching centres for football coaching at grass root level. Apart from Shamayita Krirangan- the sports ground of SSA, daily football practice and weekly coaching is held for 60 kids and girls in village Rajamela and 100 kids in village Suabasa. For mentoring and coaching the rural children, a pool of volunteers is needed, apart from licensed coaches. With this in view, a group of veteran football players was invited for a tournament on 21st February, 2021. Four teams participated – two from Durgapur ,one from Bankura district and fourth was the local team. Team of Durgapur Ex Footballers association won the tournament and majority of the players assured of lending their help and support for development of SSA
