High Impact Mega Watershed Project In Chhattisgarh

Bharat Rural Livelihood Foundation (BRLF) and Govt. of Chhattisgarh have jointly taken up a project for creation of Land and water based durable assets on a large scale through watershed approach through the department of MGNREGA. Shamayita Math is a Civil Society Organization for Dantewada Block in Chhattisgarh having its role in facilitation, planning, community mobilization, and building the capacity of PRIs. Creation of physical assets would be done through the MGNREGA funds while BRLF will extend financial support to the CSOs for their core HR and project management cost

Objective :

  1. Undertake land and water treatment measures for restoration of land and water conservation
  2. Land development – Farm field bounding, land leveling
  3. Agriculture and horticulture improvement
  4. Build capacity of the frontline MGNREGA personnel, PRI and SHG members in planning and preparation of DPR and implementation as per DPR and livelihood planning.

From December, 2019, Shamayita Math set up an office in Dantewada and a team was built comprising of a team leader, technical assistant, cluster coordinator and social mobiliser/community resource persons. The project started with five Gram Panchayats in Dantewada block, namely- Teknar, Chitalor, Matenar, Pondum and Balood. At present team started working with 2243 families in 55 paras in 5 G.Ps . With participatory planning involving the villagers, schemes are being identified, following watershed approach. These are being placed before the gram Sabha for approval, which is followed by inserting them in DPR. The DPR preparation is now under process.
